They do. They eat a lot of 'pest' bugs that can cause harm to humans or crops by the water. Spiders can help get rid of flies, and moths that can damage clothes too.

I did! And I found a book all about them and damselflies. Did you know there are over 3,000 species of dragonfly? And 2,600 damselfly species.

If it would be possible, I don't see why you shouldn't. You could wear good clothes for trapping them, so you do not get bitten.
